PIR Noise Study is Moving Forward

During March, the PIR Noise Study research team will place several monitors around Kenton and the surrounding areas to measure noise levels at baseline periods and during racing events. This “baseline v. racing event” comparison will help quantify how much track events increase noise in the community.

At the same time, residents will be invited to complete a survey about how the noise affects them, including sleep, stress, concentration, and overall well-being. The results, expected by the end of summer, will help inform future conversations and possible solutions around neighborhood noise concerns.

This is a community-led project led by the Kenton Neighborhood Association, supported by students at Portland State University, researchers from Oregon State University, and Neighbors for Clean Air.
