PIR Noise Study is Moving Forward

During March, the PIR Noise Study research team will place several monitors around Kenton and the surrounding areas to measure noise levels at baseline periods and during racing events. This “baseline v. racing event” comparison will help quantify how much track events increase noise in the community. At the same time, residents will be invited to complete a survey about how the noise affects them, including sleep, stress, concentration, and overall well-being. The results, expected by the end of summer, will help inform future conversations and possible solutions around neighborhood noise concerns.

This is a community-led project led by the Kenton Neighborhood Association, supported by students at PSU, researchers from Oregon State University, and Neighbors for Clean Air.

When: Tuesday, March 31, 11am

Where: Augustana Lutheran Church, 2710 NE 14th Ave

What: Join the CEI Hub Task Force for a press conference to announce the delivery of a letter to City Councilors and the Mayor. Signed by KNA and dozens of neighborhood associations, and community and faith-based groups, this joint letter calls on Portland leaders to take meaningful actions to reduce the risks of a catastrophic disaster at the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub.
