Lots of Treats in October

KNA Board members had loads of fun participating in this year’s Trick or Treat on Denver last week. Over the course of two hours we grooved to spooky classics, enjoyed connecting over Halloween costumes, and passed out treats to hundreds of little ghouls and goblins dragging Denver for sweets. Huge thanks to the Kenton Business Association for organizing this boo-tiful family-friendly event!

KNA Submits Comment on CEI Hub Draft Proposal

The Portland Council’s Climate, Resilience and Land Use Committee is reviewing the zoning and Land Use Plan for the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub. Located on the west side of the Willamette River, the 6-mile long CEI Hub directly impacts Kenton’s environmental quality and safety. The KNA commented on the Draft Proposal by submitting a letter that stated, in part: “The catastrophic scenario of flammable liquids (including renewal fuels) stored in aging tanks on a liquefaction zone when the predicted ‘big quake’ occurs is unimaginable. The only path toward real safety is to reduce the amount of fuel and toxic material at the Hub as soon as possible – and in accordance with Portland’s stated goals of reduced dependence on fossil fuels.”

The comment period on the Draft review is closed, but the process is only beginning. Find more information and to follow the process here >
