Free Summer Meals for Kids

Oregon youth ages 1 to 18 can receive free summer meals at a variety of locations, including Kenton Park. Meals are available June 23-August 22, Monday-Friday, 12pm-1:30pm. Find more information and additional sites here >

McDonald’s Planned for Former Green Zebra Building

It’s official — the change of occupancy permit for the former Green Zebra location on the corner of N. Lombard St and N. Peninsular Ave was filed by McDonald’s. While the fast food chain is known for its drive-thrus, current zoning prohibits them in this location. Kenton neighbors concerned about how the new fast food location would impact traffic and residents have organized to find out more information and have been sharing updates at the monthly KNA board meetings. Anyone interested in getting in touch with the concerned neighbors can email kentonaction@proton.me.

Support Kenton: Two Ways to Help

Do you think that our neighborhood is pretty great? Want to help make it even better? Here are two easy ways you can support:

Donate to Historic Kenton to support community events. Our team of volunteers scours available funding opportunities to bring events and benefits to the neighborhood. Sadly, many of our grant resources are drying up in the current economic climate environment and we are becoming more dependent on community contributions to keep activities going. Donate here >

Volunteer your time to keep our community vibrant! We have lots of opportunities to help out throughout the entire summer–a great option for those interested in lending a hand, meeting new people, and making a difference. Sign-up to volunteer here >

Kenton Adult Basketball Pickup Games

Looking to dust off those old sneakers and relive your glory days (or at least get out of the house for a couple hours)? Check out the Kenton Adult Men’s Basketball, a twice-monthly pickup game for guys in and around Kenton. Starting this August or September, we’ll be hooping at a local elementary school gym. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or just in it for the cardio and camaraderie, all skill levels are welcome. No tryouts. No egos. Just good runs and dad jokes. Fill out this quick form to stay in the loop >
