Peninsula Elementary School Bike Bus
When: February 4
Where: Kenton Neighborhood
On the morning of February 4, Peninsula Elementary families will host a bike bus, where students ride to school together along a planned route with support from adult volunteers. We’re sharing this information to raise awareness and keep everyone safe. Drivers may see a group of riders traveling together and are asked to slow down, give riders extra space, and avoid passing—small actions that make a big difference for kids and families! Public Service Announcements
Noise Study Update
Thank you, Kenton community! Many of our neighbors have volunteered to host monitors for the Noise Study. All the sites are being reviewed and evaluated by the research team. The monitors are scheduled to be deployed by mid-February and will gather data throughout the summer. The data analysis will be done in the fall. We are grateful for the professors and student volunteers from PSU and Oregon State University and the oversight by Neighbors for Clean Air. Additionally, the Multnomah County Health Department will be assisting in the development of a public health survey that will be available at the end of May. We will keep you posted.
Reminder: Weekend Only Hours for Peninsula Elementary Grounds
With the winter months bringing early sunsets and low visibility (a tough combo for spotting surprise poop piles on the field), the Peninsula Elementary grounds will be closed during the school week and open on weekends only. Out with pups or kids? Weekend daylight is your best defense against encountering poo! Feeling heroic?Suit up for poop patrol and help keep this play zone clean for our kiddos.
Welcome: A+ Coffee, Starbucks & McDonalds
Three businesses have recently opened in Kenton: Owned and operated by educators, A+ Coffee Company (3233 N Lombard St., Suite B – behind Mike’s Drive In) is an inclusive space for all to engage in lifelong learning while sipping on delicious coffee. Starbucks has opened a new location at 3171 N Lombard (previously Arby’s) and the former Green Zebra is now home to McDonald’s (3011 N Lombard St).
