We are a group of neighbors who care about Kenton and are passionate about making it a great place to live, work, and visit.
About Us
Who We Are
The Kenton Neighborhood Association (KNA) is an all-volunteer, community-led effort. We are a registered City of Portland neighborhood association and fiscally sponsored by Historic Kenton (EIN: 88-1888979).
Our Vision
We envision Kenton as a vibrant, inclusive community that values diversity, honors our history, and fosters the well-being of all people, our public places, and the planet.
Our Mission
The Kenton Neighborhood Association works in collaboration with neighbors and community partners to foster a clean, healthy, safe, livable, and resilient neighborhood for all. We advance this mission through collective action and by connecting people, sharing information, supporting civic participation, and developing solutions that strengthen our community.

Our Values
-
We commit to promote an accurate representation of Kenton’s history; this includes acknowledging painful and problematic events, striving to learn about and tell the full story of our community, and celebrating individuals, entities, and activities that contribute to advancing the wellbeing of Kenton.
-
Our association is based on grassroots leadership and buy-in. We are committed to centering the people who call Kenton home and lifting up the voices of individuals who live and work in the neighborhood.
-
Diversity – We value and honor Kenton’s diversity, in all its forms.
-
We believe that the Kenton neighborhood should be a welcoming, friendly, accessible, and safe place for all people. We are committed to serving as faithful stewards of, and advocates for, the neighborhood’s environment and public spaces.
-
From small acts of kindness to grand gestures of beauty, we see goodwill throughout Kenton. We believe in the transformative power of joyful and fun experiences, and work to spread positivity.
How We Work
Through meetings, working groups, and special initiatives, we collaborate with community members on ways to make a positive impact in the neighborhood.
We hold hybrid board meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 7:00-8:30pm. Community members are welcome to attend in person at the Kenton Firehouse or online via Zoom.
Board Meetings
Committees are a great way to help move neighborhood initiatives forward. You do not need to be on the board to join a committee, and new volunteers are always welcome.
Committees
We partner with residents, businesses, community-based organizations, City departments, and others to address quality of life issues impacting the neighborhood.

Board FAQs
Do you have a question that you don’t see here? Send us a message!
-
Board members are elected by the community at the annual General Meeting each June. If you live, work, or own property in the neighborhood, you are eligible to run.
-
Board members participate in monthly meetings, help set priorities for the year, and vote on KNA’s official actions. This includes approving budgets and spending, volunteering on committees and at events, and signing on to community letters or positions when KNA is asked to weigh in on issues that impact the neighborhood. Board members also help share information with neighbors and represent Kenton in conversations with the city and partner organizations.
-
The board is currently full. However, you can always join a committee to help us complete our work or sign up for our newsletter to know what positions are available in the next elections.
